In today's fast-paced and pressure-filled world, stress has become an all-too-familiar companion for many of us. From financial concerns and job uncertainties to health issues and global crises, the weight of worry can often feel overwhelming. Yet, in the midst of these turbulent times, Psalm 23 offers a timeless and comforting message of God's provision and care. This sermon series delves into the seven greatest sources of stress and reveals God's antidotes for each, as beautifully illustrated in Psalm 23. By understanding what it means to have the Lord as our Shepherd, we can find peace and assurance in His promise to provide, protect, guide, and correct us. Join us as we explore how to trust in God's unfailing love and care, and learn to cast our anxieties upon Him, knowing that He truly cares for us.

  1. What are some common worries you face in your daily life, and how can you apply Philippians 4:6-7 to these worries?
Scripture Reference: Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
2. How does understanding the role of a shepherd help you trust God more with your needs and worries? Reflect on Psalm 23:1.
Scripture Reference: Psalm 23:1 (NIV) - "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
3. In what ways can you differentiate between your needs and your wants, and how does Matthew 6:31-33 guide you?
Scripture Reference: Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV) - "So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

4. How can you practice casting your anxieties on God daily, and what does 1 Peter 5:7 teach us about God's care for us?
Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) - "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

5. Discuss the importance of living one day at a time as taught in Matthew 6:34. How can this perspective change the way you handle stress and worry?
Scripture Reference: Matthew 6:34 (NIV) - "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
